Principles to guide the selection of Commission projects
Principles to guide the selection of Commission projects endorsed by ICC
Executive Board, 1 December 2006, New Delhi
The usual way in which commission projects are incorporated in ICC’s work programme is on the proposal of the commissions themselves, composed of members nominated by national committees. Sometimes individual national committees seek to add projects outside this procedure. In all cases, projects should fulfil a number of conditions before being incorporated in the annual Programme of Action:
1). Is the project of interest to a broad cross-section of ICC’s membership (as expressed through the national committees)?
2). Does ICC have a commission with a sufficient number of experts on the subject to enable the project to be completed professionally?
3). Can ICC add value beyond what other business organizations may be doing on the same project topic?
4). Does ICC’s international secretariat have sufficient staff and financial resources to manage the project professionally?
5). If a project goes beyond the “normal” work of a commission, can it attract special funding? |
